CHSP
CHSP: a little help to stay independent.
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme funds practical, entry-level supports for older
Australians who need a small amount of help to keep living independently at home.
What CHSP Is
In plain English.
CHSP — the Commonwealth Home Support Programme — is the entry-level aged care program funded by the Australian Government. It is designed for older Australians (65+, or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need a small amount of regular support to stay independent at home.
Unlike a Home Care Package, CHSP is not a single budget you control. It funds individual services as you need them, through approved providers like Neta Care, with a small client co-payment.

Getting CHSP
How to access.
1. Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. Register, share your situation, and request an assessment.
2. RAS assessment. The Regional Assessment Service (RAS) visits you at home to talk through your needs. They decide which CHSP services are right for you.
3. Referral code. You receive a referral code for each approved service.
4. Choose Neta Care. Provide the referral code to us and we arrange the service. You can change providers at any time.
Cost
What you pay.
CHSP services have a small co-payment per service. The exact amount depends on the service and your financial situation. We'll explain the cost before starting, and no one is denied a service because of inability to pay.
When You Need More
Stepping up to a Home Care Package.
If your needs grow beyond what CHSP can provide, we can support you through the ACAT assessment process for a Home Care Package. CHSP can continue while you wait for a package to be assigned.
