Help in the Community /Social Participation
social participation
Participation, not just attendance.
Real community participation is more than turning up. It is being part of something, having a place, being missed when you are not there. Our supports help NDIS participants build that kind of belonging.
What This Looks Like
Examples of social participation.
For one person, social participation might mean a weekly coffee with the same group of friends. For another, it might be a sports team, a hobby class, a faith community, a volunteer role, or attending the cinema once a month.
It is rarely about big events. It is about a regular pattern of being in the world.
How We Help
What support looks like.
Finding the right activities
Helping you identify groups, classes, clubs, communities and roles that match your interests and goals.
Initial accompaniment
A support professional comes with you to the first sessions until you feel comfortable continuing on your own.
Ongoing support
For some people, ongoing 1:1 support during activities is what makes participation possible.
Building informal supports
Helping you build friendships and informal supports within the group, so you rely less on paid support over time.
Transport
Where transport is the barrier, we can include it as part of the support.
Group programs
If finding the right external group is hard, our own group programs can be the starting point. More →
Funding
Under the NDIS.
Social and Community Participation is funded under Core Supports — Assistance with Social and Community Participation. Most participants have some funding in this category.
IInnovative Community Participation sits under Capacity Building, and can fund supports that help build community skills and connections over time.
