BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT
Behaviour, understood.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) starts from the premise that behaviour communicates something.
Our NDIS-registered Behaviour Support Practitioners work with participants, families and support teams
to understand what behaviour is saying, and to build the conditions that make life work better.
Our Approach
Positive Behaviour Support.
PBS is the framework the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission expects. It is evidence-based,
person-centred and focused on improving quality of life — not on suppressing behaviour through
restrictive practices.
Our practitioners are registered with the NDIS Commission and work under the rules of the
Restrictive Practices Authorisation framework where relevant.
What We Do
Our scope.
Functional Behaviour Assessment
Comprehensive assessment to understand what's driving behaviour — including communication, environment, sensory, medical and social factors.
Behaviour Support Plans
Interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans developed with the participant, family and support team.
Restrictive Practice reduction
Plans and strategies to reduce and eliminate the use of restrictive practices over time.
Team coaching
Training and coaching for support professionals, families, teachers and other people in the participant's life.
NDIS Commission reporting
Compliance with monthly RP reporting requirements where authorised restrictive practices are in place.
Trauma-informed practice
Behaviour support that recognises the role of trauma in many participants' presentations.
How It Works
From referral to plan.
1. Referral. Self, family, support coordinator or other clinician.
2. Initial meeting. Practitioner meets with the participant, family and key support people.
3. Assessment. Functional Behaviour Assessment — observation, interviews, record review, data analysis.
4. Plan. Behaviour Support Plan developed and lodged with the NDIS Commission.
5. Implementation & coaching. Ongoing work with the support team to implement strategies and reduce restrictive practices.
6. Review. Regular review and refinement of the plan based on outcomes.
FUNDING
Under the NDIS.
Behaviour support is funded under Capacity Building — Improved Relationships.
Funding includes assessment, plan development, implementation coaching and ongoing review.
